Kenai Alaska

Kenai is the largest of the Kenai peninsula communities with about 7,000 people living in the city proper. Kenai was originally settled by the Dena'ina tribe of the Athabascan Indians, who were later joined by Russians and Americans. In 1957, oil was discovered near the Swanson River bringing development to the area. Commercial salmon fishing soon became an industry, and now tourism helps sustain this area.
